Playing with light part 2

Nothing like a nice cozy fire on a lazy Sunday morning.  Jeremy helped me with this shot.  Used the "M" setting on the camera.  Keeps the shutter open a long time.  Kind of a cool effect, especially the ember floating off on the left.  Probably would have been better if I used a tripod.  Anyway, hope you are enjoying a lazy Sunday morning too.

Tomorrow is MLK day.  We took some great photos there during winter break.  His powerful words are etched in stone all around the memorial.  Take time to remember his words and to live by them too.  Miles took this wonderful shot.
I think Al took this great shot

Playing with light

Part of the lessons on my photography course talks about light and patterns.  I thought taking photos of the morning sky through the trees would show both of these.  Enjoy!  I love the contrast between the branches and the different colors in the sky.  We also had to take photos of an object at different times of day to see how the light changed things.  I took pictures of a sun tile on my porch.  The top photo was done in late afternoon light and the bottom on a cloudy morning.

This says it all

OK...I saw this on Facebook and had to repost.  It pretty much says it all.  What a good philosophy to guide us through a New Year.

Photgraphy Blog

Hi friends,
My goal this year is to use my wonderful new camera.  I hope to use this blog to share my love of photography with all of you.  Al not only gave me the camera, but also an on-line digital photography master class via the Washington Post.
Here is my picture for the week of January 9th.
We had an unexpected snowfall yesterday, so I played around with my macro lense and took this picture.  I love the contrast of the green leaves and red berries.
