A Trip to Fort Foote Park

Today we visited Fort Foote Park which is near National Harbor.  Thought it looked like an interesting place for a hike since it was on the water and was the site of an old civil war fort.  Sadly, there was a ton of garbage down the end of the "secret" trail.  The fort part was pretty cool and the boys enjoyed seeing the gigantic canons.  I took some nice pictures of the water, driftwood, shells and the canons.  Hope you enjoy!

Here are some pictures I took at a restaurant/farm we went to celebrate
my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.  It was in Purcelville, VA.  I changed the
colors on the photos above and below to enhance the
weathered look of the boards.

My niece walking on the stone wall.

These two pictures were taken in Fredricksburg, VA.  I like "reflection" shots.

Celebrated my parent's 50th anniversary at a lovely farm restaurant in
Purcellville, VA.  Here are some photos I took while we were there.

Love the texture of the weathered boards.
Grandale Farm was the name of the restaurant.  It was very close to Harper's Ferry.

Changed this to a black and white.  Wish the sky had a little more something to it.

Memorial Day Weekend.
Jeremy's scout troop is washing motorcycles for Rolling Thunder.
Here are some shots I took at the local VFW Hall where they set up their
bike washing stand.
Chrome and lights are so cool!

So many bikes, all in a row.
A good message for all of us.
Some of the boys, Jeremy right in the middle, from Troop 1523, Annandale VA.

Spent a lovely afternoon with my mom at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, VA. Beautiful gardens and lots of interesting history about this lovely, historic home.
The link to this site is www.oatlands.org/.

Here are some pictures of the house.

Here is the sign that welcomes you to Oatlands.  Love the metal work.
The garden had the most beautiful Irisis in so many colors.  Love the contrast between the purple flowers in the backround with the yellow iris in the photo below.
 Beautiful poppies.
 Entrance to the garden.
 Very interesting bench.

This picture was taking in the Rotunda at Monticello.  They just started taking tour groups up to the second floor of the house.  Took this with my phone.
Another rainy day.  Thought I would post some of my favorite pictures from this past year.  Enjoy!

Another picture from Monticello.  Jefferson had some nice kitchen facilities.
Took this one with my phone too.  This was at the National Gallery Sculpture Garden.
Sunrise at Fairystone State Park last summer.  Beautiful vacation spot.
Enjoy your day.  Looking forward to taking more pictures this spring/summer.

Artichokes

Went shopping at Trader Joe's this morning.  They had some gorgeous artichokes.  So, I just had to take some pictures of them when I got home.  I am sure you noticed that I played around a bit with the color while I was editing the photos.  Let me know what you think.  Enjoy!

This was the display in Trader Joe's.  Aren't they just gorgeous?!
